I first learned about the Reggio Study Program during my first tour of the University of Arkansas back in high school. Immediately, I knew that I wanted to participate in this program and that I would be calling the U of A my new home. Throughout my first 3 years here, I continued to think about this program and what experiences and knowledge it might hold for me. I applied not really knowing those attending that well, but I ended up making a few new friends along the way.

During our last day together in class, we were asked to think of one word to describe our experience on the trip. I chose friendship. The girls I roomed with, ate with, sat in class with, and explored the streets of Rome with will forever hold a close place in my heart. From eating massive plates of pasta to getting lost on the public bus routes, these girls helped me feel the real value of friendship and simply enjoying life. My favorite memory was from our last night in Rome. After our group dinner, we decided to get dressed up and go dancing. We ended up getting back to the hotel with only a few hours to pack and sleep, but it was one of the best nights I have had with some amazing women.

If you have the opportunity to study abroad but are hesitant because you do not know anyone going or your best friend is not going, just apply and go. It might take the whole trip, but you will create new relationships and find new passions you might not know you have. You will have a fabulous time and make great friends along the way!

Ciao!
