New Delhi University

The New Delhi University campus that we visited is for PhD students only. The campus began as a botany focused department, but the botany department is none existent now. We had the opportunity to talk with the head of a department, the previous vice chancellor, and students of the PhD program.

When we were given a talk by the previous vice chancellor, he explained that he hopes in the future, we are willing to share discoveries. He explained that the most difficult experience of his career is that people would make discoveries and they would keep them to themselves, rather than share with the rest of the world. He then continued to talk about agricultural sustainability in India.

Here we are learning about black rice, that when cooked, turns purple!

Yes, this is a peacock!

We were given the opportunity to talk with other students, getting to know them through their academics and their culture. We found that even in other countries, students like to watch Netflix after class, get ice-cream with their friends, and go home for home cooked meals. Learning about the Indian culture from the students was essential to our learning on this trip.
